The McGee’s Great Room Textile Refresh

Here’s how we updated our textiles for the season.

Updating your textiles is the easiest way to make your home feel fresh with each new season…

and this year at The McGee Home, we’ve added a few layers to our great room to make it feel cozy just in time for fall and winter. As the weather gets colder, we’re all about layering patterns, textures, and warm season-inspired tones to make our space feel cozy.

When designing our home and selecting our furniture, we knew we wanted to keep the palette neutral and calming, and we love how we can layer in new accent tones when we want to switch things up!

Here’s how we updated our textiles for the cold weather ahead:

Mixing and matching textile patterns is all about playing with scale and shape. We like to incorporate large and small-scale patterns and mix organic and geometric shapes to keep things interesting. For more tips on mixing multiple patterns in one space, read our recent post here!

Building your textile look in a consistent color palette simplifies the process of mixing and matching patterns, especially when it comes to pillow combinations! This season, we brought in warm Terracotta, berry, and plum tones for a look that will transition well into both fall and winter.

Throws can go a long way in bringing more dimension to a space. We love switching out the throw that’s draped across our ottoman to add a new element of pattern or color to our great room and on the edges of our sofas and chairs for added coziness.
