Style Inspiration for an Empty Dining Table

Design advice for the places that need a little love.

Styling spaces in your home that are meant for styling can be hard, but what about the places that aren’t necessarily meant to be styled every day but could use a little love when they’re sitting empty? Here, Shea’s take on styling an underutilized dining table.

Styling spaces in your home that are meant for styling can be complicated in themselves, but what about the places that aren’t necessarily meant to be styled but could benefit from a little love when they’re sitting empty? Here, Shea’s take on styling an underutilized dining table.

One of our favorite things about styling shoots for new McGee & Co. collections is we typically shoot in someone else’s home, and we get to style their space with our new, fresh pieces. This means we get to see these pieces put to work in a whole new setting. In the home we shot our summer collection in there was space for a more casual dining table, but being off from the kitchen, it would likely remain empty for the better part of the year if it existed in a real family home. With this in mind, Shea and the design team decided to treat this space as a standalone styling moment, and we love the inspiration it gives for how to handle underused dining tables in your own home. Maybe you have a more casual and a more formal dining area, or maybe it’s a breakfast nook that’s either empty or scattered with less sightly everyday objects, but either way, styling it like a console or coffee table is a good way to make it feel cohesive with the rest of the home’s design. We hope you gather all sorts of good design advice from this special styling moment in our McGee & Co. summer shoot.

“There are so many interesting objects in this collection like this marble hand. It’s unqiue and a fun conversation starter.”
