“One thing I really love about winter is all the hosting and entertaining and gathering with family and friends,” Shea says in the video below, “and for us, that always revolves around food.” And since the season is upon us, we asked Syd and Shea to open the front door for us and give us the inside scoop on what holiday food traditions they each take on within the McGee family.

“Syd really makes sure we have the taste down, but I have to take it one step further,” Shea notes. “Whatever we’re presenting the food in—it needs to feel beautiful.” Meanwhile, Syd confesses, “that’s literally something that never crosses my mind.”

So who does what in the kitchen? “You’re killer on the BBQ and the smoker, and you always do breakfast really well,” Shea says of Syd’s cooking abilities. And of her, “you always do cool-looking, super delicious salads. Everything you bake is so good, and your soups are ridiculous,” Syd adds.
