Sunday 7: Black Friday Mania

Still in a food coma, but ready to shop, shop, shop.

No. 1. Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving was lovely, and I think I will be full on pie for the next several weeks. It was so nice to have a few days to reconnect with family, and enjoy some of our favorite dishes. We hosted and served all the traditional usuals like turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, but I always love to throw a fall salad into the mix as well. I love this salad because the colors look beautiful on the table too:

Apple and Toasted Pecan Salad with Maple Vinaigrette:

  • 6 C. spring mix
  • 1/2 C, feta cheese
  • Pomegranate seeds or craisins sprinkled to taste
  • 1/2-1 granny smith or honeycrisp apple cubed
  • 1/2 C. toasted pecans (make extra because you’ll want them for snacking

Butter Toasted Pecans:

  • 1/2 lb. pecans
  • 2 TBS butter sliced thin
  • Sea salt to taste

Preheat oven to 300° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread pecans evenly on pan. Slice butter in thin slivers and place on top of pecans. Sprinkle with sea salt. Cook for 8 minutes, shake pan, cook for 8 more or until just fragrant.

Maple Vinaigrette Dressing:

  • 2 TBS. pure mable syrup
  • 3 TBS. apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 C. EVOO
  • Salt and pepper to taste

No. 2. Studio McGee Presets Sale

The Studio McGee presets are on sale this week! When I started Studio McGee on Instagram years ago, I took all of my own photos, and I know firsthand how hard it can be to take and edit great interior photos. We worked with photographer Jess Kettle to create a simple solution, and the way they adjust to light without losing any detail impresses me every time. I honestly love to use these presets to edit my personal photos (like the ones above), too. Use code OHJOY for 25% off through 12/3.

No. 3. McGee & Co Black Friday Sale

The McGee & Co Black Friday sale is still going strong, and I have picked a few more of my favorite pieces from the shop. The older girls and I have been hauling bins up from the basement, and trimming the tree all week. I love to mix old, new, and sentimental. This year I’m eyeing a few holiday pieces from the collection to add to our tradition. Our McGee & Co. Christmas trees are incredible! They are made from molds of actual trees, and look so realistic.

No. 4. Shopping all the sales

I have a love/hate relationship with Black Friday – so many good deals, so little time! I am adding this, this, and this to my Christmas wish list.

No. 5. Stocking up on beauty favorites

Obviously, now is the time to stock up on a few of my favorite items to have on hand for gifts (and if I happen to slip one under the tree as a gift from me, to me, so be it). I’ve been loving this blush; great for a touch of cheek color when you’re wearing very little makeup to the gym and want to keep things simple.

6. 2021 Gift Guides

With all the Black Friday deals happening I’m definitely going back through our gift guides to score deals on surprises for Syd and the girls. Check them out here, here, and here

7. Happy Shopping!

Be sure to take a look at a few more of my favorites from the McGee & Co Sale, particularly these pieces that are ready to ship, and will be to your door in plenty of time for the holidays.  A Christmas shipping miracle to start your season! Sale ends tomorrow!
