PC Contemporary Project: The Great Room

Details from our latest project

From the moment…

you walk into our PC Contemporary Project, you can see the backdrop of mountains from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Inspired by the textural and tonal elements of its surroundings, this space carries a sense of refined comfort throughout each vignette.

Structured contemporary lines…

are softened by curved silhouettes and mixed textiles. With vast walls of windows, the architecture and build, completed in collaboration with Otto/Walker Architects and Craig Construction, enhances the visual connection with the mountains.

We chose a few of our favorite paint colors, Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore, for the walls, and Natural Cream by Benjamin Moore for the window trim, to compliment the light filtering in from the tall windows.

"I love the challenge of adding warmth and live-ability to contemporary homes, and you'll see that through our selections in this space."

A restrained material palette..

brings cohesion to the open-concept floor plan, drawing the eye to the view. Central to the space, the massive stone fireplace was built with materials from the exterior of the home and complete with a cast stone surround in a boxy trim detail.

To maximize comfort, we incorporated a streamlined sofa with thick cushions, the iconic white Eames lounger in white leather, a bold rectangular coffee table, and curved velvet chairs.

The subdued color story..

is completed through styling. For continuity, we echoed the subtle color scheme of the mountains, incorporating soft whites, greens, and taupes throughout the decor.

The asymmetrical built-ins break up the pieces, bringing interest to the minimal palette.

"With our clients muted color palette in mind, we mixed layers of neutral textures and subtle patterns to make sure the design didn't fall flat."
