It’s easy to think of an office pinboard as a place to keep to-dos and scrap pieces of paper with notes scribbled on them. But if done right, it can be one of the most aesthetically pleasing parts of a home office. For the board itself, we suggest going minimal, so it seamlessly melds into your wall, like our Oak & Linen Memo Board at McGee & Co. From there, there are a few simple tips and tricks you can follow for pinning in a way that will feel inspiring during the workweek. Here, Shea’s guide for office pinboard inspiration.

No. 01 | Mementoes That Elicit Memories
“One of my favorite items to tack up on my office’s pinboard is small mementoes from events that my family and I went to together or photographs that make me smile. Of course, I want them to be beautiful and inspire me visually when I look at them, but they also elicit memories of happy times with the ones I love, which to me is the best kind of inspiration in the middle of a workday.”
No. 02 | Textural Items That Are Tactile
“Being a designer, I know that the sense of touch is a powerful one. I often find ribbons or swatches that I’m drawn to for a textural reason, it’s something about the way the material comes together that speaks to me. I like to tack these onto my pinboard for dimension and visual relief.”
No. 03 | Elements of Nature
“It’s proven that being in nature is good for the soul. I like to bring an element of nature into my office in various ways through items like dried branches or photo of a floral arrangement. These moments from the outdoors are a helpful guide in developing a color palette and so beautiful and grounding.”
