Home on the Bay Project: The Dining + Living Nook

A space for kicking your feet up

Adjacent to the kitchen space…

the layout of the Home on the Bay opens up to a dining nook and living area designed for our clients to share relaxed meals, watch movies, and entertain guests alongside the heart of the home.

Designed in collaboration with Sausalito Construction and Holscher Architecture, this home is a completely custom new build for our clients and their family to enjoy for years to come. This space is filled to the brim with layered textures, mixed patterns, and cozy elements that invite you to put your feet up from the moment you walk in.

"The pattern and tone of the checked navy roman shade add personality and depth but feels classic enough to stand the test of time."

- Shea McGee

A small area off the kitchen was the perfect place for a little dining nook area. With the sweetest surrounding windows, we didn’t have much room for furniture and artwork, but we were able to play off that and create a cozy seating space with a round table and spindle-back chairs with custom cushions. The pattern and tone of the checked navy roman shade add personality and depth but feels classic enough to stand the test of time.

Sitting right by the kitchen across from the dining nook, we designed a more casual hang-out area. Our clients wanted a really big TV and cozy kick-your-feet-up pieces, and this space is perfect for watching the big game or gathering with friends and family.

A cozy vintage rug divides this living area from the dining and kitchen spaces and sets the tone for a cozy sofa with a chaise. When you choose an L-shaped sofa, pairing it with a round coffee table or ottoman works best to allow space to walk around it. In this look, we added a textural coffee table to carry over the woven element from the kitchen stools.

Oversized pillows on the sofa, layered lighting, and layered styling on the built-ins to frame the TV bring this look to life with an extra level of personality.
