A Winter Dessert Recipe: Ginger Pear Galette

When it gets cold, we get cozy. This rustic tart is just the ticket.

For such a simple dessert, it has a fair amount of complexity

a little sweet and a little spicy, buttery and golden. The colder months bring a bit of a cooking conundrum for home chefs… the lack of summer fruit selections. This is particularly difficult for those with a fondness for the sweeter side. But the changing of the seasons doesn’t have to mean a drought on sugar-centric desserts. This rustic pear galette is just what you need to satisfy a winter craving—syrupy pears melt inside a flaky, buttery crust with notes of cloves, ginger, sugar, and cinnamon. Simple to make with loads of depth and flavor; all-in-all the perfect winter dessert recipe.

  1. This recipe makes no sense! The first two instructions are the same, yet there is no instruction on how to make the “Quick Jam.” Also, under Quick Jam, there is an asterisk by the 2 Bosc pears ingredients but no explanation why! Please fix.
