Tip No. 01 | Lots of Cozy Textiles

Adding extra blankets, throws, and pillows to your guest space not only brings in more texture for a cozier look but also adds functionality. Even if you keep your home at a standard temperature, everyone has different preferences, and it’s always nice to have an option for extra warmth at the foot of the bed if needed, or on the contrary, be in a layered bed so kicking off a blanket or two is possible. Refreshed crisp sheets, fluffy duvets, end-of-bed quilts, and cozy throws and toss pillows all bring texture and dimension to any bedding look.

Tip No. 02 | Bring In Something Fresh

Instantly make your space feel more considered by adding a touch of greenery or a simple arrangement to the bedside table. If you’re rotating guests throughout the season or you don’t have a green thumb, use faux stems or plants instead for one less thing to think about. Plus, it’s a great way to introduce a hint of color or seasonality to shift the feeling of the room.

Tip No. 03 | Provide Storage Space

If you don’t have extra drawers (but it’s easier than you think to carve out space for a slender, standing dresser), you can clear out for your guests’ use, be sure to add a basket or two for them to store their belongings during their stay. Additionally, if guests are staying for a bit longer than a weekend, add a larger, lidded basket in the room and let guests know they can store their worn clothing in it for washing later on.

Tip No. 04 | Add Additional Seating

If you don’t have secondary seating in your guest space, consider moving a spare chair into the room for convenience. Especially if you’re housing more than one guest in the room, it’s always nice to have areas to sit apart from the bed.

Tip No. 05 | Leave Considered Extras

Fill empty nightstand surfaces with thoughtful extras like small pots or trays for dropping jewelry, a box for your guest to place belongings, and a seasonally scented candle. Stack coffee table books for your guests to flip through, some matches for the candle, and a carafe of water beside a glass for their comfort. Sometimes it’s the little things that matter most.

Tip No. 06 | Incorporate a Mirror

We love incorporating a full-length mirror into a guest bedroom so that guests can check their outfits when getting ready. Mirrors can also give the illusion of more space by bouncing light around and adding a layer of visual interest to a room.
