Vertical paneling is one of the easiest ways to heighten your walls and create openness in a smaller space. It's a detail that will also create dimension and visual interest to your walls. Painting your paneling really takes your design up a level, and makes the space feel more modern and clean. Check out our favorite examples!

I love the black paneling!!
Us too!!
What product do you recommend to use? MDF? Pine?
I love these, and appreciate the variety you included. I love the look and would love to incorporate it into my son’s very small bedroom. For a small space, would it be best used on just one wall?
I took inspiration from the 7th photo from the bottom for our guest room, and installed MDF vertically. I love how it turned out. (you can check it out, if you are interested on instagram @justmakemess)
Here in Brazil we always use ceramic tiles from top to bottom in bathrooms, wood panels are not common…but I like soo much, it’s really beautiful and cozy! I’ll save the inspirations to use on my bedroom wall, loved the black one ๐
I love the look of the vertical paneling! We have 9′ ceilings, does thIs material come in 4×8 sheets, or other options? Not crazy about seams:(
We just purchased a home with a den featuring that 1970s wood paneling halfway up the wall. If there is white wainscoting elsewhere in the house (itโs a 1925 Dutch Colonial), can we modernize the den by painting the wood paneling a color? I am LOVING the black…
Thanks for the amazing inspiration!
You definitely can! We painted our 70โs wood paneling a beautiful gray 10 years ago – before either were trendy – because it really has a classic look!
I love this look. I cannot find it locally. Does anyone have a source for it online?
