Simple Buttermilk Waffles

We're sharing our favorite simple waffle recipe!

This might be a little off topic from our normal conversation about interiors, but we wanted to take a break from our typical day-to-day and just enjoy life a little! Over the years, we’ve designed and/or styled so many kitchens that we thought it’d be fun to actually spend some time in one.

Simple buttermilk waffles. We love this nostalgic breakfast—the simplicity of helping whisk the ingredients together, pouring the batter into the iron, watching the steam escape from the top, and placing a beautiful, crisp waffle on my plate. Every single square has to have a little bit of syrup in it, right? It doesn’t take a professional chef or complicated recipe to make memories in the kitchen. The magic of these simple moments is being able to pass them along from one generation to the next. Here’s our favorite recipe!


 Preheat oven to 275 degrees; set a rack on a baking sheet, and place in oven. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, and eggs; add flour mixture, and mix just until batter is combined.

Heat and oil waffle iron. Pour batter onto iron, leaving a 1/2-inch border on all sides. Cook until waffles are golden brown and crisp, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to rack in oven to keep warm; repeat with remaining batter.
